I just recently caught up on "I'll be better tomorrow" and I just wanted to say: you are incredibly good at writing 13. I've read a lot of fics with her and while I enjoy them I think mostly they feel ever so slightly A.U. Yours always feel like they could take place in canon. It's impressive since we know very little about what she's thinking in the actual show, as close to the chest as she keeps everything. But your internal monologue for her seems so realistic, and its simply brilliant.

Beneath sweeping brows and thick lashes are two almond brown pleas for disclosure, honesty, openness, as the Doctor seals herself as far inside her own mind as she can retreat. Yaz’s presence is a careful prodding at the side door, a rock thudding against a window, an attempt to rein her in.

Yaz shields her face with her arms, backpedalling on instinct despite the twisting knife of concern in her chest for those remaining.

(In the midst of a village under brutal attack, it’s up to Yaz to help everyone get out alive.)

Why did she promise? That bucket of cement she poured over her own stone-carved rules seemed like a tactical advantage at the time.

I answered this in another one but another thing I’m proud of is this story idea I suppose. I’ve been developing it for months and I really like how it’s panning out, and now I just need it to write itself so that I can write the last chapter because I CANT GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD

Solitary confinement renders the Doctor’s decision making…. unreliable

7: What are you most proud of?

I guess my understanding of my characters! I’ve got an encyclopedia of Doctor/companion headcannons that I really enjoy working into my fics and I think the outcome ends up working well.

8: What is your biggest challenge?

SIDE!! CHARACTERS!! There are a lot of them in this fic, and it’s a serious challenge. I very rarely use side characters so now that I’m having to properly develop a BUNCH of them in 1-2 chapter increments at a time, it’s a pain in the ass, but I’m okay with that. By the time I finish this fic I’ll be a lot better at it

13: Your characters are stranded on a deserted island. What happens?

Thirteen and Yaz on a deserted island… wouldn’t last very long, the Doctor would make a boat out of pinestraw and her left shoe and get them the hell out of there.

If you replace deserted island with “space ba sing se” so it’s more in context: lots of bad decisions and painful confrontations

17: Does your WIP have any themes or motifs?

So initially I was gonna be basing each chapter off a famous philosopher quote, given how this fic is a deeeeep dive into the Doctor’s moral compass. I’ve kind of let that plan slide, but the theme of this fic is still down to choices and what it means to be “good”. The Doctor gets put in a bunch of situations where there is no perfect outcome, but she tries for one anyways, and has to deal with the consequences of coming up short.

20: Post a brief excerpt

“I promise you,” The Doctor repeats after a pause and breath, even as Yaz casts a warning glance her way because she knows, she’s seen, promises can’t always be fulfilled, but perhaps, just perhaps, that law can be rewritten. That subconscious tool she usually keeps with her – the one that learns from her victories and losses and transcribes them into rules carved in stone, seems to be missing. Or broken. But she’s got a bucket of cement. “I will find a way to keep all of you safe.”

2: Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project

!!!!!!!! This currently multichap has me off and on hyperfixating because I am so excited. There are certain scenes I can’t get out of my head that I’m most looking forward to writing, but for those planning on reading this when it’s finished I don’t wanna spoil anything. The setting in this story is basically space Ba Sing Se so that’s fun as hell

22: Do you reread your old works? How do you feel about them?

Sometimes when I’m getting down about my writing I’ll read some of my stuff from 2018 to make myself feel better about my progress. I’ve learned a lot since then so it usually gives me a bit of a boost, either that or it makes me want to delete everything pre-2019 😂

That’s really hard because I actually have,,, no idea how my style would be defined. There are certain genres I lean towards but other than that I can’t pick up any consistency through my writing that I could use to define it by “style”. If anyone else has any ideas 👀

14: At what point in writing do you come up with a title?

Usually while I’m writing the first chapter, since I tend to post as I’m writing. This current multichap though might be on its fourth title attempt by the time I get around to posting

The Doctor in general but right now THIRTEEN !!!!! She’s so bouncy and bubbly and easy to project myself through 💀💀

11 - What do you envy in other writers?

Their ability to write good fics in a TIMELY 👏🏻 MANNER 👏🏻 I know most people still have to take breaks here and there but man I’ll be doing sprints with the homies and get like 300 words in 20 minutes on average while everyone else is in the 500-800 range. I get distracted or overthink every word and syllable and the flow of every sentence until I’m just stressing myself out and start writing blind and hate everything I come up with. FUN STUFF

16 - Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?)

Hah NOPE. Well, The™️ multichap I’m working is a bit more story oriented and action packed than my others, so I guess that’s new. I still wanna write that ATLA au if I can manage to pull up my docs one of these days without wanting to die
